The Secretary for Justice, Jack Straw, visited Ely yesterday to see how a scheme that makes offenders wear high visibility vests, as they complete their community service, was working.
"I think it is great that Government Ministers are visiting Cardiff West to see directly how the policies they have implemented are working," said Mr Brennan.
"I have spoken to constituents in the area who spoke positively about the scheme that has seen offenders cleaning up Birdie's Lane.
"I think what pleased local residents the most is that they were given the option to choose what community service the offenders carry out and where it should take place.
"I hope to talk to Jack Straw about how he feels the scheme in Birdies Lane is working and how it can be used to give something back to the local community."
