CARDIFF West MP, Kevin Brennan, has congratulated Cantonian High School after they became the first school in Wales to receive an excellent rating in two areas under Estyn's new inspection regime.
The school was praised for good leadership, a high quality of self-evaluation and planning and their strong practice of partnership working.
In 2010 the school achieved its best exam results ever with 60.25% of pupils achieving five or more GCSE grades at A-C.
Speaking after hearing the excellent report Kevin Brennan said, "The pupils and staff at Cantonian High School have every right to be proud of their Estyn report.
“To become the first school in Wales to receive an excellent rating in two separate areas is a fantastic achievement.
“I think the remarkable thing about Cantonian is that it continues to improve year on year with even more pupils receiving A-C grades than ever before.
“I would like to congratulate the hard working staff at the school for their excellent work and wish the pupils the best of luck for their GCSE examinations next month.”
