0 St Mary's Catholic Primary School receives international award

LOCAL MP, Kevin Brennan, has congratulated St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Canton after they received an international award from the Polish government for their work as a multi-lingual and multi-ethnic school.

Mr Brennan, who visited the school last month, believes the award is fully deserved.

"I recently visited St Mary's Catholic Primary School and I have seen first hand why they deserve this award," said Kevin.

"The school has more than 50 pupils who speak Polish with a total of 25 different languages spoken at the school.

"The teachers and staff do a fantastic job with the school's 2009 Estyn report stating 'St Mary's is an outstanding Catholic Primary School'.

"I would like to congratulate St Mary's headteacher, Mr Jefferies, and all the staff on their award as it is fully deserved."
