CARDIFF West MP, Kevin Brennan, is backing the campaign to save the 1st Dragoon Guards who are Wales' only tank regiment from the UK Government's cuts.
Mr Brennan recently joined forces with fellow Labour politicians Rhodri Morgan, Alun Michael MP, Owen Smith MP, Nick Smith MP and Julie Morgan AM to publicly display opposition to cutting the regiment at the homecoming for the Welsh Cavalry outside Cardiff Castle.
"This is a passionate and important campaign to try and save one of Wales' historic regiments from the UK Government's campaign of cuts," said Kevin.
"I was pleased to recently attend the homecoming for the Welsh Cavalry at Cardiff Castle and add my support to a large list of Labour politicians who are against the abolishment of the 1st Dragoon Guards.
"However it was very disappointing the Secretary of State for Wales, Cheryl Gillan, refused to have her photo taken with us in front of the 'Fight to save Wales' only tank regiment' banner because this is not a party political issue, it is a Welsh one and a campaign we should all be behind regardless of party.
"Prior to this I also met with the Media Officers from the Regiment outside the House of Commons who came to meet the Shadow Secretary of State Owen Smith MP.
"I would like to assure members of 1st Dragoon Guards, members of the armed forces and the public that this campaign will continue to receive my full backing and support."
