Job Details
Kevin Brennan MP for Cardiff West, is looking for a Parliamentary Assistant for his Westminster Office.

The successful candidate will be mainly based in London but may occasionally be required to work in the Cardiff West office. They will be responsible for the day-to-day running of his Parliamentary Office.

The successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, well organised, reliable and at ease working unsupervised. They will be able to manage a large workload, demonstrating a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks. Evidence of knowledge and an active interest in politics will be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be expected to:
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc
• Undertake Diary Management and liaise with the constituency office in Cardiff
• Ensure the Member is fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the House
• Give advice on policy issues
• Monitor media coverage and brief the Member on relevant issues
• Prepare and present briefing notes for committees, press releases, parliamentary questions, speeches etc
• Progress casework as required
• Project Management
• Project Work
• Provide general administrative support
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
• Supervise others where appropriate
• Undertake research and carry out any other reasonable duties related to supporting the work of an MP as required.

Previous parliamentary experience is not essential for this role. The ability to communicate in the Welsh language would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
