Mr Brennan said

“I am delighted to be asked to serve as PPS to Alan Milburn in the exciting period leading up to the General Election.

It is an honour to be asked to play a part in that vital work.”

Notes to Editors

Kevin Brennan (44) was elected as the MP for Cardiff West in June 2001.  He is currently a member of the Public Administration Select Committee.  He recently spearheaded a House of Commons campaign on occupational pensions resulting in a £400m Financial Assistance Scheme.

Before he was elected to Parliament he was a Special Adviser to the First Minister in Wales, Rhodri Morgan.

The post of Parliamentary Private Secretary involves assisting a government minister with his or her duties.  Despite being unpaid, a PPS is expected to support the Government in whipped votes in the House of Commons.
