Fitzalan High School congratulated on prestigious award

Local MP Kevin Brennan MP congratulated Fitzalan High School in Cardiff today on being awarded the prestigious Marjorie Boxall Quality Mark Award by national charity the Nurture Group Network.

This prestigious accolade is awarded to schools who demonstrate exemplary practice in supporting a range of pupil needs in their school nurture groups.  Nurture groups are in-school, teacher-led groups in school that help children overcome barriers to making the most of school and learning.

On presenting the Award, Nurture Group Network Chief Executive Kevin Kibble said: “Fitzalan High School has evidenced its success in running an outstanding Nurture Group, and the beneficiaries of their hard work every day are the children attending the school, their families and the wider community. Our standards to achieve this award are exacting and many congratulations are due to the staff and pupils at the school”.

Kevin Brennan MP said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Fitzalan High School and I would like to congratulate the pupils involved and praise the dedication of the teachers and staff who have helped to make winning the award possible. It’s great to see the impact the Nurture Group is having on pupils at the school.”

Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Judith Rees said: “We are really proud of the work of the Nurture Group at Fitzalan and are delighted to receive the award.  It is recognition of both the enormous benefit that the Nurture Group brings to individual pupils and to the ethos of Fitzalan as a whole and of the hard work of all those who have ensured its success.”
